Mia Lacroix was first introduced to the pleasures of traditional music through the recorder in 1996 and studied that instrument with Gilles Plante at CEGEP Marie-Victorin. She travelled in Europe and more particularly in Bretagne, accompanied by musician friends with whom she took part in several festivals. In this way, she learned new tunes and discovered the local cultures of each country. Mia Lacroix hosted the Cabaret du Roy evenings for just over 10 years, during which time she developed her voice and her repertoire. In 2003, she co-founded Galant, tu perds ton temps, a group with five female voices accompanied by percussion, which specializes in traditional women's songs and a cappella singing. She recorded three albums with this group: Fais-toi pas d’illusion (2004), Galant, tu perds ton temps II (2009) and Soyez heureux (2013). Since then she has contributed to several albums as a guest singer: J’ai dans la mémoire (La Giroflée, 2008), Pièces sur pièces, (Duo Duval-Boulanger, 2011), and Nicolas Boulerice, (Nicolas Boulerice, 2014).
