THE LIFE OF THE COUREUR DES BOIS
New France and Montréal in particular were developed through the fur trade. And it was the coureurs des bois and the voyageurs who went to find the furs in the heart of the territory. With this workshop, historian and story-teller Francis Désilets will take you along in the footsteps of these valiant travellers who covered considerable distances by canoe to trade with the Amerindian nations in the Great Lakes region. Learn more about the daily lives of these men: their work day, the dangers they faced, the materials they carried and the fur trade itself with the Amerindians.
