An Educational Mission through History

Maison Saint-Gabriel is:

A museum that passes on memory, presents and explains to the general public

the role played by Marguerite Bourgeoys in the development of the sharecropper’s farm in Pointe-Saint-Charles as well as her work with the King’s Wards;

the traditions maintained by the Congrégation de Notre-Dame, the work carried out by these religious sisters and the social impact of their commitment;

life in a rural milieu from the 17th to the 19th century and its cultural, religious and social heritage.

a place where visitors (from here or elsewhere…)
can be in communion with the spirit of those who built the country and with their values by exploring three centuries of history.

a museum that brings together cultural communities and organizations interested in history, heritage, traditional rural life in Quebec and life in Montreal.

a museum beyond the walls in the streets and parks in the heart of its neighbourhood, actualizing history in a contemporary way.
